Design Engineer

  • Produce detailed drawings showing all necessary tolerances and dimensions, required by each manufacturing operation.
  • Maintain drawings, product structure, and design standards in accordance with modern methods and procedures.
  • Review project details with Technical Sales to design parts and create a customer approval drawing, as necessary
  • Utilize 3D CAD modeling software to draft component and assembly design records
  • ·Calculate forces applied by automation and/ or work-holding applications
  • Obtain purchased components required for affected manufacturing or assembly and review incoming inspection protocols for respective components
  • Provide design records and technical specifications to manufacturing department
  • Provide technical assistance as required to manufacture and assemble affected work-orders
  • May provide improvement suggestions to manufacturing and/ or assembly processes
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience required
  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment desired ( i.e., Lathes, Mills, 3D printing, desired)
  • Experience creating and maintaining BOM (bill of materials) and working with change systems (ECR or ECN systems)strongly desired
  • Experience with Creo CAD systems and Windchill desired but not required
  • Experience with ANSYS FEA simulations and CAM desired but not required

Education and/or Experience:
  • Four year college or University degree in Mechanical Engineering. Experience with Automation and or Clamping technology highly desired.

Language Skills:
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports, correspondence and to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Computer Skills: Requires expertise with personal computers, CAD applications and related applications. Ability to use word processing, spreadsheets, and the ability to use or learn to use integrated order and sales system or application, email and internet/intranet applications.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Driver’s License
