Electro Mechanical Service Technician

This position requires specialized knowledge in servo and motion control systems and excellent electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills. The position may require up to 40% travel to support customers with the installation and service of machines, customer training and repairs, along with in-house repairs and projects. This individual must promote SCHUNK professionally on the job and in the industry.

Job Responsibilities:
  •  Support and train customers with installation, run-offs, start-up, and maintenance of machines
  •  Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical problems
  •  Travel 20 to 40% of work time in North America and abroad depending on customer and business needs
  •  Diagnose complex technical problems and perform on-site repair
  •  Support customer applications in house and at customer site
  •  Diagnose technical problems and troubleshoot via telephone or email
  •  Examine machines mechanically / electrically and perform repairs by dismantling machines and rebuilding mechanical and electrical systems
  •  Effectively interpret schematics and block diagrams to analyze and troubleshoot problems 
  •  Document detailed product problems and resolutions 


Job Requirements:  
  • 2 year or higher degree in Electronics or Industrial Systems Technology or related field
  •  Ability to use PC applications including advanced skills with Microsoft Office suite and email
  •  Experience in servo and motion control systems
  •  Experience in PLC operation and troubleshooting
  •  Experience in troubleshooting and repair of electrical and mechanical systems
  •  Confident, articulate, and professional speaking abilities
  •  Ability to write repair process documentation that others can follow
  •  Able to read mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams
  •  Skilled in electrical measurement and inspection techniques and able to use a digital multi-meter and oscilloscope
  •  Experience in linear motor technology – A Plus
  •  Process knowledge in depaneling printed circuit boards (PCBs) – A Plus
  •  Skilled in mechanical measurement and inspection techniques (e.g., indicators, micrometers) – A Plus
