Regional Sales Manager - Gripping (Automation)

Plans, coordinates and executes all sales efforts within assigned territory predominately through relationships with distribution partners.  Builds and maintains customer relationships while working to achieve maximum SCHUNK sales penetration.

  • Identifies customer applications and programs that present an opportunity for SCHUNK Workholding, Toolholding and Automation sales.  Proposes solutions to these customers and leverages resources from inside sales and distribution partners to achieve sales goals and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain customer contact and information via CRM database.
  • Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular or prospective customers to solicit orders.
  • Displays or demonstrates product, using samples or catalog, and emphasizes features likely to generate sales.
  • Quotes prices and credit terms and prepares quotations for orders obtained.  Review supplied quotations and follows up to meet or exceed quote-hit-rate goal.
  • Prepares reports of business transactions and maintains expense reports.
  • Works with inside sales representatives to keep account activities and call reports up to date through CRM system.
  • Coordinates customer and distributor training.
  • Attends trade shows
  • Technical aptitude dimensional, measurement and metal cutting application proficiency
  • Experience working with or in the industrial market
  • Highly motivated with strong organizational skills
  • Disciplined self-starter with ability to multi-task
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to meet sales goals and overcome potential rejection inherent to sales environment


Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree (B.A or B.S) from a four year college or university; or two to four years outside sales experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to read and interpret common scientific and technical journals.


Computer Skills

Ability to use PC applications including spread sheets, word processing, Internet and Email.

Valid Driver’s License
